The Edmond J. LaVoie Outstanding Graduate Student Award

The Edmond J. LaVoie Award for Outstanding Performance by a Graduate Student in Medicinal Chemistry

The Edmond J. LaVoie Award for Outstanding Performance by a Graduate Student in Medicinal Chemistry was established in June, 2022 to honor Dr. Edmond J. LaVoie upon his retirement.  Dr. LaVoie was a Professor and long-standing member of the Medicinal Chemistry Department at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy for over 30 years.  During many of those years, he served as either Department Chair and/or Graduate Program Director.  This award, presented to a doctoral student in the Graduate Program in Medicinal Chemistry, is the highest honor bestowed on a graduate student by the Department of Medicinal Chemistry of the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy, and recognizes outstanding performance both in academics and original scientific research in the field of Medicinal Chemistry.  Candidates are nominated by their advisor and applications are reviewed by a committee of faculty members who choose the award recipient.  The Edmond J. LaVoie Outstanding Graduate Student Award comes with a certificate and a financial award.
