Dr. Narayanan’s research program is focused on optimization of antimicrobial therapeutics and investigating the epidemiology of infectious diseases. There is a special emphasis on infectious diseases and global health threats includes drug-resistant bacterial infections, tuberculosis, COVID-19, HIV, infections in immunocompromised hosts, and vaccine hesitancy. The type of studies spans the research spectrum including observational epidemiological studies, comparative effectiveness research, translational research, pharmacokinetic studies, and clinical trials. Dr. Narayanan collaborates closely with basic science faculty and clinical researchers across Rutgers University and various other institutions.Supported by a NIH/NIAID K23 Career Development Award (K23AI159396), Dr. Narayanan’s emerging independent research program seeks to integrate pharmacometrics and translational microbiome research (pharmacomicrobiomics), to develop precision medicine tools to optimize treatment response and outcomes for patients with tuberculosis.
