Clinical Interests
Dr. Bateman has a primary interest in providing direct patient care through the management of chronic conditions to the underserved population. Dr. Bateman began as a pharmacy intern in an independent community pharmacy in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia while completing his PharmD degree at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy. Dr. Bateman then completed a PGY-1 Community Pharmacy Practice Residency with the Mylan School of Pharmacy, Duquesne University and Giant Eagle Pharmacy where he provided clinical services such as administration of vaccines, point of care lipid and A1C testing, and the provision of Medication Therapy Management throughout the city of Pittsburgh. Dr. Bateman began his work with EMSOP as a PGY-2 ambulatory care resident with a specific focus on managing patients with type 2 diabetes in an ongoing research study. He transitioned into the role of Clinical Assistant Professor and continues to work in an interdisciplinary team for management of patients with chronic disease states at Henry J. Austin Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center in Trenton, NJ.Scholarly Activities
Dr. Bateman continues to manage patients with type 2 diabetes in an ongoing diabetes research study at Henry J. Austin Health Center and this research project has led to multiple abstracts and posters.
