Saira A. Jan, a clinical professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration, has been honored as one of the Top 25 Leading Women Intrapreneurs in New Jersey for 2018. The award recognizes Jan for her 24 years of contributions to health care on the state, national, and international level. She is also director of pharmacy strategy and clinical integration at Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.

Dr. Jan accepted the honor at an October awards ceremony, along with other top “intrapreneurs,” defined as women business leaders within large institutions who take direct responsibility through assertive risk taking while supporting diversity efforts. On the dais with Jan were honorees from top corporations, including Johnson & Johnson, Prudential, BASF, and Withum Smith+Brown, as well as prestigious higher education institutions, including Princeton and NJIT.

Dr. Jan, whose specialty is managed care, has wide-ranging research interests and also oversees the Opioid Abuse Toolkit, an educational resource for New Jersey communities and prescribers to assist in the fight against the opioid epidemic.
