Mission Statement

The mission of the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administration supports the overall mission of the School in four critical areas: teaching, clinical pharmacy practice, service, and scholarship.

The departmental mission is to participate in the preparation of students to practice patient-centered and population-based pharmaceutical care in its varied environments.  Students should be equipped with the necessary skills to adapt to a changing health care environment.  Students should be provided with fundamental professional ethics and attitudes necessary to adapt their careers to changes in health care over their lifetime.

The department strives to provide service to the profession, the University, the State of New Jersey, and society as a whole:

  • By providing clinical service to hospitals and other health care organizations and/or institutions, professional organizations, governmental agencies, and industry;
  • By providing drug information to pharmacists, other health care practitioners, governmental agencies, and the public;
  • By providing community outreach programs to improve health awareness;
  • And by providing structured postgraduate education and training of high quality to alumni, pharmacists, and industrial colleagues in New Jersey and surrounding areas of the country through which practitioners maintain their competence and acquire new skills to serve the changing needs of society.
