Dr. Adams received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2004 from Northeastern University. After graduated he directed his career toward in-patient pharmacy and engaged in an ASHP-accredited PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. Upon completion, Dr. Adams joined the Brigham and Women’s pharmacy team as a clinical specialist and focused his efforts and research in the Surgical Intensive Unit. During his tenure in Boston, Dr. Adams dedicated his time to advance patient care in the ICU; working on various multidisciplinary committees, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, presenting and speaking at national conferences, and was appointed as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University and the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Allied Health Sciences. In 2014 he was welcomed into the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy as a Clinical Assistant Professor where he can dedicate more of his time in academia and research. Dr. Adams is also a Critical Care Specialist at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset where he performs daily ICU rounds and sits on multidisciplinary committees in an effort to improve patient care. Dr. Adams also serves as a preceptor for the Critical Care Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiential (APPE) learning clerkship for Rutgers pharmacy students. He lectures in several courses ranging in content from endocrine disorders to critical illness. Apart form his career he is also a member of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), New Jersey Society of Health-System Pharmacists (NJSHP), and the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM).
Areas of research and professional interest include optimizing pain assessment and sedation strategies in the ICU, anticoagulation in the critically ill, sleep pharmacotherapy in the elderly, patient medication safety, and innovative educational techniques in experiential patient care settings.
