John L. Colaizzi earned a B.S. in Pharmacy (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Pittsburgh and M.S. and Ph.D degrees from Purdue University with a major in Pharmaceutical Science. He served in faculty positions at West Virginia University and the University of Pittsburg where he also served as Chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutics and Associate Dean as well as Professor of Pharmacy. In 1978 he was appointed Dean and Professor of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, a position he held until October 2007, when he returned to the faculty as University Professor, Professor of Pharmacy and Adjunct Professor of Pharmaceutics. For a brief period in 2003, he served as Acting Vice President for Academic Affairs. He is a member of the American Pharmacists Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, The American Institute of the History of Pharmacy, The New Jersey Pharmacists Association, and The New Jersey Society of Health-System Pharmacists. He is a licensed Pharmacists in New Jersey and Pennsylvannia. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.
